Camps!

At What Ability camps, participants are provided with 1:1 support in a group environment for between 2 days and 1 night, up to 7 days and 6 nights away from home, depending on their support needs. Here they are able to build meaningful friendships and develop independence through fun-filled social opportunities. Time away from home is such an integral part of growing up, for a participant and their families.

That’s why here at What Ability we believe camps can provide our participants with opportunities and experiences that allow them to thrive and flourish to their full potential, all whilst having fun. Camps are filled with fun activities directly related to each individual’s plan. Some of these activities could include jet-skiing, beach days, bushwalks, caring for and feeding animals, water slides, cooking meals and baking, campfires and roasting marshmallows, family style dinners and movie nights. Camp gives participants a safe place, where they can relax, be themselves and grow as individuals… and as always happiness comes first!

Connor had a fabulous time at camp and we are seeing him increase in independence and self-esteem because of these new opportunities. He is trying different things and is encouraged to get out of his comfort zone. It really is wonderful to see.

Maia has gone from strength to strength going on the WA camps. She had no reservations being away for 2 nights. It gives us confidence that we would be able to increase the length of time she is away. THANK YOU!

This was our first camp, Charlotte absolutely loved it. She didn't want to get out of the car to come home. That's how you know she has had the most incredible time. Everything is so well planned out. Thank you for all that you all do. What Ability has changed our lives for the better.
